Stargazing Tour

Do you ever look up at the night sky and wonder what's out there? On this 1 hour guided stargazing tour, you’ll explore the cosmos with a seasoned professional using both the naked eye and a powerful Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The tour focuses on planets, stars, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies, with an emphasis on astronomy and observation. Expect a clear, engaging introduction to the universe and stunning views of the night sky.
Where to meet?
You'll meet your guide at the carpark at the end of Goodale Rd next to the Dillon Reservoir, and they’ll take you to the beach where the telescope will be set up, ready for the tour to begin. If the guide is not there when you arrive, they are getting everything set up. Please just wait near the sign.
What to bring?
Even in the summer the temperature gets cold at night, so please dress appropriately. The weather can also change very rapidly, so it is advised that you bring a rain jacket with you as well. You are welcome to bring your own chair to sit in, otherwise we will have chairs available for you.
Weather Policy
Stargazing is a weather-dependent activity, and in Breckenridge, conditions can change in an instant. Your guide will determine whether the tour will proceed, often making the decision as close to the start time as possible to allow for the chance of clearing skies—which happens frequently. If the trip is canceled, you are welcome to rebook for another night or receive a full refund. If the tour begins and reaches the halfway point before being canceled due to weather, refunds will be issued at the guide’s discretion, with a possibility of a partial refund.

For the enjoyment of all guests, children under 6 are not permitted on the group tour. If your party includes a child under 6, please do not book this tour, as your group will not be able to participate. No minimum age for the private tour.

There is a decent amount of walking over uneven ground with limited lighting to and from where the telescope is set up. For this reason, the tour is not recommended for those with mobility issues. You will be provided red-light torches for use when walking.

No cell phone usage during the tour.

Astrophotography is allowed and encouraged during the tour so long as it takes place a little bit away from the group and camera screen brightness is at its lowest level.

Changes and cancellations are not permitted within 48 hours of booking. This policy applies to rebooked tours as well.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour. Guests arriving more than 10 minutes late may not be able to join the tour, and no refunds will be issued.

Please note that views through the telescope will not appear the same as the detailed images seen in photographs. While the telescope provides incredible views of celestial objects, long-exposure photography captures colors and details not visible to the naked eye.
